Isle of Wight Sea Pool collaborates with college for new branding

Isle of Wight Sea Pool will very shortly unveil a totally new Brand Identity following a hugely successful collaboration with the Graphic Design Department of the Isle of Wight College.

Graphic Design student, James Watson, created the new brand including logo, icon and supporting design elements as part of his final year Level 3 Graphic Design course at the college supported by his Lecturer Louise Downer and other students.

Isle of Wight Sea Pools Project
Isle of Wight Sea Pools Project Team were keen to keep the new brand design local, using local creative skills and ideally giving young people an opportunity to participate in these early stages of one of the islands most exciting future projects.

Marnie Janaway (Isle of Wight Sea Pool Board Director) approached the IW College with the concept and briefed the final year Graphic Design students to use their newly learned skills to design logo concepts. There were two outstanding designs but the winning design from James resonated strongly with the whole project team at the Isle of Wight Sea Pool.

Isle of Wight Sea Pool Brand custodian
James will now work alongside the Sea Pool marketing group to implement his design across all the marketing elements (website, social media, banners and signage), benefitting from some commercial experience alongside his continuing studies.

He has also been awarded £250 to help towards his future studies having won a place to study a Marketing Degree at Portsmouth University starting later in September. James will join the marketing group on an ongoing basis as the Isle of Wight Sea Pool Brand custodian.

Sue Barker, Isle of Wight Sea Pool Project Board Director says,

Downer: Will put the skills of our students on the map for years to come
Louise Downer, Graphics Design Lecturer, said,

“From the Isle of Wight College perspective we know our students benefit hugely from collaborations with local organisations. It offers them real life opportunities to put their newly learned skills into practise.

“This project with Isle of Wight Sea Pool will put the skills of our students on the map for years to come.”

Isle of Wight Sea Pools team will launch the new logo and brand identity later in the autumn once the team has incorporated it into all our marketing assets.
