Isle of Wight Diabetes Group celebrate 100 years of Insulin (updated)

Diabetes affects millions of people world- wide and this discovery has led to many more lives being saved over the years.

In 1921, a team of Canadian researchers discovered Insulin and ignited a century of ground-breaking innovations in diabetes care that have since saved thousands of lives.

Celebratory event
Diabetes Group Isle of Wight celebrated the discovery of life-saving Insulin with a dinner and speaker event this April.

The event took place on Friday 8th April at Island Sailing Club in Cowes and featured the renowned diabetes specialist, Professor Partha Kar OBE (pictured above), Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology, Diabetes, National Specialty Advisor NHS England/ Getting it Right First Time (GRIFT) Joint Clinical Diabetes Lead NHS Improvement.

The Island’s Diabetes Group
Diabetes Group Isle of Wight provides help, support and advice to anyone who is living with or cares for someone with diabetes.

In addition, we have regular expert speaker events and publish a popular free magazine with guest contributions from diabetes experts and from those living with diabetes.
