Well done to all involved in the cycle challenge from La Manche to Le Med. Ed
The four Medina High School sixth form students have completed their cycle challenge down through France, cycling coast to coast from St Malo to Narbonne-Plage, a distance of 664 miles, in 8 days.
The team, raising funds for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, battled temperatures of over 30 degrees celsius and distances of 90 miles a day when completing their challenge.
“There have been a couple of interesting moments along the way, with three of the four cyclists colliding with each other while stopping at the Traffic Lights and then navigating right through the centre of Toulouse. There have been a couple of accidents with people falling of bikes, however everybody was unhurt,” says Arthur Halsey, cyclist.
The challenge was made possible due to our sponsors, who have provided money towards the costs of the challenge, or goods that the team required to complete it.
Three cheers for sponsors
The sponsors include In Flight Peripherals Limited and Harrison Black accountants, Medina High School, LD Lines, Wightlink, Wight Mountain, Raleigh, Hose Rhodes Dickson, Farmhouse Fayre, and the Real Island Food Company.
The challenge hopes to raise £6000 for the Hospice, however just under £2000 has been raised to date.
Still time to donate
