Thanks to Melanie for sharing details of this exhibition that starts today at Quarr Abbey. In her own words. Ed
A portrait of Eddy Minghella by Sarah Talbot will be on show at Quarr Abbey in an exhibition opening on Thursday 28th July.
Sarah is a popular portrait artist who has painted many of the Island’s most well known residents. In 2004 she had a portrait accepted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition which was singled out for particular praise in the national press.
This is the second time Sarah has exhibited at Quarr Abbey with fellow artists Sally Woodford, Martin Swan and Melanie Swan. Sally is a member of QuayCrafts and her distinctive ceramics feature in the exhibition ‘ Another Time, Another Place’ currently showing in the West Gallery at Quay Arts, which celebrate 25 years of QuayCraft’s work.
Martin Swan is showing new Island landscape paintings following his sell-out exhibition at Quay Arts earlier this year. His paintings evoke the beauty of both the Island’s landscapes and its seascapes, which he regularly shows in exhibitions with the Royal Society of Marine Artists, of which he is a member.
The exhibition includes textiles by Melanie Swan and woven beadwork by Zoe Kennard. Their work has been shown in a number of group exhibitions with Martin and Sarah, including a special group exhibition for the 2011 Island Games shown in the Sandown Headquarters.
The Summer Art Fair and Exhibition is open from Thursday 28th July to Tuesday 2nd August between 10am and 4pm with a drinks reception on Thursday 28th July from 6-7:30pm
