On Sunday (9th August) at 2pm, Ventnor resident Lesley Brown will be ‘Braving the Shave’ in Perks of Ventnor.
Fez, the local resident Turkish barber has kindly agreed to work on a Sunday and in a pub to help Lesley raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care.
Lesley will be dressing up for the occasion and has her Union Jack catsuit, Union Jack shoes, Union Jack hat all ready for Sunday.
She says,
Why do it? Honestly…
Why not, it’s only hair.
Gratitude..because I don’t have cancer.
Gratefulness…that I have an opportunity to help, within my blessed contented life.
Respect…for those who care for those that suffer.
Love…for those who face the most challenging time of their existence.
That’s why. It’s very simple.
“Incredible community”
Having only lived in Ventnor for one year, Lesley been bowled over by the community spirit.
She added,
“I’ve only lived here a year, as a single mum who knew nobody, the Ventnor community have been incredible.”
