Lifeboat crew risks propeller damage to help grounded fisherman in East Cowes

A lone fisherman whose 15-foot boat developed engine trouble in Osborne Bay, East Cowes, last (Sunday) night led to Cowes RNLI lifeboat going to his rescue.

After launching at 7.15pm, the lifeboat crew arrived to find the fishing boat aground in shallow water.

Despite risking propeller damage, they decided they had no option but to go close enough secure a tow-line.

Eventually an alongside tow enabled the lifeboat to deliver the boat to Shepards Marina.

It returned to station at 9.15 pm.
