This Thursday (24 April), the National Union of Teachers is staging a national 24hr walk-out in response to the School Teachers’ Review Body’s recommended pay increase for school teachers. The strike is affecting a small number of schools on the Isle of Wight.
Every effort has been made by schools to avoid disruption to students and parents. Although very few schools will close for the day, some may be operating a reduced timetable and will be ‘partially closed’. These schools have written to parents informing them of the situation. If parents require further information, they should contact their child’s school.
A full list of schools affected by the strike action can be found at the council’s website at www.iwight.com. Schools that are not listed are open as normal.
