The diversion route for the Lushington Hill work will be via Wootton High Street, Station Road, Whiterails Road, Staplers, Snooks Hill, Coppins Brdge, Fairlee and the Racecourse.

Night time work
In order to minimise disruption to road users, work on both sections will be undertaken at night and re-opened during the day. Diversions will be in place to allow the works to be undertaken as swiftly and as safely as possible.

The work is part of Island Roads’ intensive programme to upgrade the Island’s highway network with much emphasis currently being put on improving some of the Island’s main roads that are in poorest condition.

Island Roads service director Paul Herbert, said:

“We have recently undertaken high profile improvement schemes at Arreton and Whippingham and the forthcoming work in Wootton will further underline our commitment to improving the quality of the Island’s strategic roads.

“Obviously given the nature of these roads, this improvement work cannot be undertaken without some disruption but we will make every effort to keep this to a minimum and thank residents and road users in advance for their patience and understanding while this work is in progress.

”In the interests of safety we would also like to remind road users to drive within the speed limits on these diversion routes.”
