Police have told News OnTheWight they were called at 10:21am on Monday 13th March to Chestnut Close in Ventnor following the sudden death of a 57 year-old woman.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death.
Man arrested
As part of their enquiries a 47 year-old man from Ventnor has been arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult.
He remains in custody at this time.
