The start of the Green Canopy at Medina College

Medina College first on Isle of Wight to plant Platinum Jubilee green canopy trees

Medina College is the first school on the Island to have planted trees for the Queen’s Green Canopy.

This is an initiative that has been launched to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee in 2022 where everyone is encouraged to “Plant a tree for the Jubilee”.

Create a sustainable legacy
With a focus on planting sustainability, the Queen’s Green Canopy are encouraging the planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.

210 hedgerow trees have been planted along the border of our Farm Plot for the Queen’s Green Canopy and we plan to plant even more in the new year.

We have been presented with a virtual plaque to mark our contribution.
