It’s with considerable sadness that we discovered today that Mike Furness has died.
Mike was a truly lovely bloke that we met because of his pivotal involvement in VentnorTV.
He lived the early part of his life through the viewfinder of a TV video camera, progressing to become a director and producer of entertainment programmes for ITV.
We were lucky enough to capture a bit of Mike and his story back just over six months ago on a sunny day in Ventnor on the Esplanade. We chatted over quite a few different subjects touching on his past career, work, his illness, his hopes and intentions for VentnorTV.
Although only having a short period of time with Mike, we could tell he was a very special person, with a fascinating history.
We send sincere condolences to his wife and children. He’ll be missed.
A service for Mike is being held this Monday, 18th January, 2010 at St Lawrence (Old Church) at 1:30pm.
