OnTheWight were alerted this morning to the prices that Wightlink are quoting to an Islander looking to organise a minibus trip for 12 people to go to the Mainland for a day.
The quote that OnTheWight has just been given by Wightlink’s online booking system is £642. Two pounds more that the minibus driver was quoted.
£502 cheaper on Red Funnel
Plugging the same details – Minibus of up to 8m, with 12 people on board, leaving from the Island at 6am on Monday 14th September, returning on the same day at 5pm – into the Red Funnel system have a price of £140.
Of course, everyone on the Island knows that it’s busy on the ferries around Bestival/Festival times – and this is the Monday after Bestival, but what has grabbed everyone’s breath is just how high the Wightlink prices can go.
