Munt on the Money at Knighton

Thanks to Adam for this latest report from the Isle of Wight Car Club. Ed

Ryan Munt completed the last unsealed surface round of 2014 in dominant fashion, winning once again in his Rally-prepped Subaru Impreza, despite many challengers including Darren Taylor in his ultra-lightweight Mazda 323.

Taylor, who seemed to be a master of the Knighton Sandpit course, almost leap-frogged Munt on his fifth run, however he struck a cone, which led to a five second penalty; eventually, Taylor finished the day six tenths behind the victor. Dan Morgan finished the day third in his Subaru, 1.05 seconds down on the fastest time of the day.

Fastest female driver of the day
The remainder of the top six were all Subaru drivers, meaning that Darren Taylor’s Mazda was the only two-wheel drive car in the top six. Jill Williams (pictured), who was also behind the wheel of a Subaru, proved to be the fastest female driver of the day, finishing twelfth overall on the challenging layout.

Marion Saunders was the next lady on the timesheets, despite her shared Mini breaking a CV joint during a run for its other driver, Steve Brett.

The bravest driver of the day was Joe Moore, who bounced his away around the course in his Land Rover Defender, coming home 25th in the standings.

Double bill weekend in November
The Isle of Wight Car Club will now take a small break before a double-bill weekend on the 8th and 9th of November, visiting both BAE Systems and the Isle of Wight College.
