National Year of Reading 2008 at Ventnor Library

National Year of Reading 2008 at Ventnor Library As we reminded you yesterday, Alan Titchmarsh will be launching the 2008 National Year of Reading this coming Friday and from Saturday all residents are invited to join the libraries all over the Wight.

If you’re not a member, you might not realise that you can borrow up to 30 books (and other things) at a time?

All you have to do to join the library is to turn up with a membership form from the previous day’s Daily Mirror or something with your name and address on it and you can borrow immediately!

As well as a huge collection of books, the library also lends out talking books, DVDs and Videos – there really is something for everyone!

Might be fair to use this for road improvement.

Reminder; council chose to slash roads spending from 2006/7, and wish us to believe that a discredited PFI scam should be our only option for roads maintenance.

Do you really think any additional money should be spent on roads or is it just another reason to use the word “discredited” and the acronym “pfi” in the same sentance? In my opinion, the decision to increase parking charges was made to recover the money lost from the mess Pugh made with his ridiculous attempt to introduce exhorbitant, Island resident annual parking fees.

High parking fees and bus fares obviously deter people from using town centres. Is it any wonder so many shops are closing down?

No-one needs to pay for parking in any island town.

You’re right Mr T, they could just raise the council tax instead
