Need for fixed-link feasibility study backed by Isle of Wight Council leader

The leader of the Isle of Wight council, Cllr Jonathan Bacon, has written to the group campaigning for a fixed link to the Isle of Wight.

Cllr Bacon has expressed his personal support for a feasibility study into the viability of a Solent Tunnel fixed link to the Island.

In his letter to Carl Feeney, one of those who has spearheaded the campaign for the fixed link to the Isle of Wight, Cllr Bacon makes clear no formal position on a fixed link has been taken by the Isle of Wight council.

The letter goes on to say,

“This letter does not express a view one way or another on whether the Isle of Wight should or should not be permanently linked to mainland Britain, but merely supports the process of an independent examination of the issues.”

Fundraising appeal launched
A GoFundMe appeal has been created to raise funds for the group’s activities.

“We now need to get to more advanced stages of the campaign. We require a professional quality web site, hiring of debate venues, transportation costs to Westminster, stationery, leaflets, prospectus files, etc.”
