Solent Tunnel

The Fixed Link Tunnel campaign group, Pro-Link, has been campaigning for a feasibility study into the proposal for the Solent Tunnel – a fixed link between the Isle of Wight and Mainland – since 2014.

Run by Carl Feeny, Kevin Price and Tim Cooper, Able Connections Ltd has been set up as a body with which to communicate professionally with those in the transport industry.

Lord Adonis was Secretary of State for Transport from 2009 to 2010, and Chairman of the National Infrastructure Commission from 2015 to 2017. He met recently with Pro-Link members to discuss the feasibility study.

Mainland councillors have expressed 'fury' at proposals for a Solent Tunnel and they say, the lack of consultation with them. Those responsible for the plans say councillors are "difficult to pin down" and blame Mainland council transport officers for not passing on details.
