Back in October, the Ministry of Justice a launched new Code of Practice for victims of crime.
The new code came into effect yesterday (10th December) and clams to help reduce delays in the criminal justice system by avoiding duplication and improving compliance and case administration.
Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire, Simon Hayes, said,
“I welcome the code of practice for victims which yesterday came into effect. In the past, all too often victims of crime have been forgotten by the criminal justice service. Victims should be supported, and informed throughout their journey. I believe the code will enable this to happen.
“I particularly welcome the recognition that restorative justice can help the victim to come to terms with their experience, and would encourage victims to ask the police and victim support services about restorative justice options available to them.”
