The Island’s newest brass band will be celebrating two notable ‘firsts’ at its concert in Wootton this week.
Abbey Brass will be sporting their new black and gold uniforms for the first time and it’s also the debut for the band’s musical director Phillip Littlemore.
Featuring music for all taste
The concert – at Wootton Methodist Church, Station Road, on Wednesday 19th April – features music for all tastes including pop classics and songs from screen and stage. Several of the pieces have been arranged by Phillip, an experienced brass band player, conductor, arranger and adjudicator.
A band spokesman said,
“The band is really looking forward to the concert and showing off our uniforms for the first time.
“We have been working hard in rehearsals towards this concert since Phillip took over in January and he has put together a varied programme which I am sure the audience will enjoy.”
Abbey Brass was formed in 2021 and now boasts 25 players, all experienced musicians.
The concert starts at 7.30pm and admission is free with a retiring collection.
