New paint, new signs and a new look could spruce up JD Sports on the Isle of Wight.
The sportswear retailer, on Newport High Street, currently has old branding.
New plans could see the shop revitalised, with four new illuminated signs added.
The revamp
The shop front looks set to be painted black, and there are plans for repairs and new paint for the upper floors.
Scaffolding has already been erected around the High Street store, for minor work to be carried out.
Smartening up the high street
In recent months the Isle of Wight council has pro-actively worked with businesses and owners to improve the look of buildings in the town centre, including Halifax and the former Phones 4 U shop, which is now ‘Fone Centre’.
High Street Design Guide
The refurbs follow the authority’s approval of the ‘High Street Design Guide’, which aims to improve the visual appearance of high streets and shop-fronts.
You can view the plans, 23/01497/ADV, on the Isle of Wight council’s planning register. Comments can be submitted until 29th September.
