Held in Winchester, the members of the panel heard the Commissioner outline his approach to the development of his Police and Crime Plan, which sets police and crime objectives for the Hampshire Constabulary area.

Michael Lane, Police and Crime Commissioner, said:

“The Police and Crime Panel have a statutory responsibility to scrutinise my plan and decisions, but they are also a key contributor to the process of producing my Police and Crime Plan. I was pleased to introduce them to my process that engages the community and draws their priorities together.

“Including the panel members allows them to provide their expertise and advice to develop the best and most efficient plan, so that the chief constable is empowered to deliver the most effective operational policing.”

One of the statutory duties of Police and Crime Commissioners is to produce a Police and Crime Plan which should determine, direct and communicate the Commissioner’s priorities during their period in office.
