The parish council look after the lamppost hanging baskets in St Thomas’ and St James’ Square.
At the weekend our watering contractor, Colin Wadsworth, got the shock of his life at 6.30am when he discovered a duck and her babies had moved into the basket near French Franks in St Thomas’ Square.
The RSPCA are monitoring the duck but they can’t move her until all the eggs have hatched.
She has ousted all the flowers bar one and seems quite happy sitting on the dirt.
Apparently she is making good use of the water!
