This is pretty unusual.
VentnorBlog has heard within the last half hour that someone has walked along Pyle Street in Newport from Town Lane to Coppins Bridge smashing the windscreens of cars on the way.
We’re in the process of trying to find out more details.
(Photos and updates after the jump)
UPDATE 12:52: Zelie Gordon tells us: “Lots of people saying this bloke just walked down & smashed them all with iron bar.”
UPDATE 12:56: Looks like the County Press have got their story up about it (not bad considering it was right outside their offices!).
They’ve got more info. They’re saying that a man using “a large metal pole” did the damage to 15 cars and that he “was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and taken to Newport Police Station.”
Interestingly they chatted to Marie Flux, 71 yo Pensioner, who had asked him what he was doing (brave!), she told the CP, “I couldn’t believe my eyes. He didn’t even stop, he just hit every car as he walked past,” said Mrs Flux, 71.

Many thanks to Colin Welfare for sending us the story tip and the photos.
