This in from the council in relation to the Binstead Road bridge repairs. Ed
Motorists who are avoiding using Binstead Road due to bridge repair works are being advised that temporary lights are not yet in place.
A three-month programme of works began on 14 September to stabilise the embankment and also replace the bridge parapets near Rufflers Way. The council has committed to minimise the delays to traffic as much as possible while these works are done.
The initial phase of preliminary works is being managed to avoid the need for temporary traffic lights. Whilst these will be necessary later in the project the road is currently free of any restrictions.
Many motorists have helpfully heeded warnings about the potential for delays on this route during the works and have been using different routes to avoid the area.
Rather than make an unnecessary diversion motorists are advised to keep abreast of the latest situation via local media and the council’s website.
