On Sunday afternoon the Isle of Wight council warning signs at Shanklin beach between Small Hope and Tradewinds, as there was a risk of oil coming ashore from a grounded boat.
They advised people stay off the beach itself for the time being.
A spokesperson from the council issued an update this afternoon,
“Following the stranding of a vessel off Small Hope Beach, Shanklin, an operation will be underway this afternoon Tuesday 29th June to recover the yacht.
“The vessel will be lifted on to the beach, and the seabed will be inspected to remove any other debris that can be located.
“The small amount of fuel that spilt yesterday appears to have dispersed and at present there does not appear to be any further risk of pollution.”
