The New Year’s Day swim, which took place midday with over 30 swimmers – all in fancy dress with some great costumes and from all ages – was organised by The Royal Pier Hotel in aid of the Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat.
There were huge crowds, with over 1,000 spectators and the great weather made this a superb day.
Over £3,300 was raised from raffles at the Hotel and sponsorship from the swim and will be used to fund our new boat house.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the swimmers braving the cold water and some being extremely brave with their costumes.
A special thanks to The Royal Pier Hotel and their staff who have supported us yet again, we cannot thank them enough.
