One month into the start of the 25 year Highways PFI contract for Island Roads and tonight sees the start of their first highways surfacing scheme.
Cowes, otherwise known as District 1, will see surfacing work take place on Place Road. All residents have been informed of the proposed works which take place between 6pm and 6am for three nights (weather permitting).
Island Roads say the noisiest works will occur between 6pm to midnight, with all other work continuing throughout the night finishing at 6am.
Herbert: “A truly exciting time”
Paul Herbert, Island Roads Service Director, said: “The start of the massive makeover by Island Roads has been a truly exciting time and we are delighted that this evening, we start our first highway improvement scheme in Cowes (DISTRICT 1).
“Work will be carried out at night in order to minimise disruption on the busy Island roads and we believe residents will agree that once completed, the work will complement the new LED street lighting which is currently being installed across the Island, to support the eco Island vision.”
