Police investigation launched following fire in Shanklin

Officers on the Isle of Wight are carrying out a joint investigation with the Fire Service to establish the cause of a fire at a derelict building in Shanklin on Saturday night (12 March) at around 10pm.

Fire crews were called to the building located behind Palmerston Road and the High Street and which is not accessible directly from the main road.

No-one is believed to have been hurt, but severe structural damage was caused to the premises by the fire.

An investigation is now underway to establish the cause.
