Police are now in a position to name the driver who died following a road traffic collision in East Cowes.
Jonathan Legge, 46, of Kings Road, East Cowes, was pronounced dead following the two vehicle collision on Whippingham Road, just after 8pm on March 1.
His family have today paid tribute to him. His estranged wife Pam said:
“Jon, who was known as Leggy to most of his friends in Australia, held his family and friends very close to his heart.
“He always carried a cheeky grin and when he appeared you always knew there was a funny story to be told or practical joke to be had.
“To me he was a loving partner and husband and we spent ten years together living in Australia and the Isle of Wight.
“When it was just me and him it seemed we were in our perfect world.
“He was a loving step-father to my three children who are devastated by his loss. We are all feeling a huge loss and sadness.
“Jon, the stories you told and the hilarious memories we shared will be with us forever. We all love you and you will be forever with us.”
Mr Legge was the driver of a Vauxhall Corsa. The other car involved in the collision was a Land Rover.
The driver of the Land Rover, a 44-year-old man, was taken by road ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital. He suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who saw the collision or either vehicle prior to the incident to come forward as they may have information which may assist the investigation.
