Police Take 101 Phone Service Away From Local Councils

Police Take 101 Phone Service Away From Local CouncilsHampshire police are to take over the 101, non-emergency phone service due to difficulties they’ve had working with local councils in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The Chief Constable, Alex Marshall, described the difficulties tactfully, using the phrase a “lack of cohesion within the 101 partnership.”

The BBC reports that on average 12,000 calls a month were made to 101 last year.
