Parts of the Newport and the West Wight are currently devoid of electricity.
(Update 15:09 Wendy says Yafford is back on. Southern Electric just called too – all supplies are back on now.)
VentnorBlog reader Wendy got in touch to let us all know that power cut in Shalfleet, Shorwell, Brighstone and Calbourne areas started at 1.20pm.
After VB spoke to Southern Electric. we also found out that parts of Newport and Limerstone have also been affected.
1,500 properties affected
Southern Electric estimate that 1,500 properties are being
affected.
There’s currently no firm idea of when it will be back on, but Southern Electric say they hope to it will be by about 4pm.
It’s a fault in the High Voltage network and Southern Electric currently have their engineers walking along the transmission lines to try and find what might have tripped it out.
Unsure when fixed
As yet, there’s no official estimates as to when it will be back online, but they tell VB that they’re doing everything possible to get it fixed.
