In preparation for the Easter holidays, Red Funnel’s new summer timetable starts this weekend with more car ferry and the Red Jet Hi-Speed foot passenger sailings added to the schedule.
From this Friday (27 March) the Vehicle Ferry service reverts to an hourly timetable between 0530-2030 hrs from East Cowes and between 0600-1900 hrs from Southampton. We understand that there are also some slight changes to overnight sailing times.
More Red Jet Crossings Too
From Saturday 28 March, the 0745 and 0845 Red Jet sailings from West Cowes will operate on Saturdays and Sundays and the 2345 Red Jet departure from Southampton (0015 hrs from West Cowes) will operate 7 days a week.
From Monday next week (30 March) additional sailings will operate at 1215 and 1315 hrs from West Cowes and 1145 and 1245 hrs from Southampton.
The summer timetable will see Red Jets operate every 30 minutes between 0615 and 2115 hrs during the week and between 0915 and 2045 hrs at weekends, with hourly departures in the evening and early mornings.
Jonathan Green, Sales & Marketing Director comments: “With fuel prices now at a more sustainable level, we are delighted to restore the two Red Jet lunchtime round trips which were withdrawn as a fuel saving measure in May 2008. The 30 minute frequency integrates with both Southern Vectis and CityLink bus services and also with South West Trains London-Weymouth services.”
Red Funnel’s summer timetable will operate until 31 October. Full details can be viewed and downloaded from their Website.
