Neil Young: Something You Didn’t Know: LincVolt Green Car Conversion (video)

Neil Young: Something You Didn't Know: LincVoltAs you know, there’re mixed feelings about Neil Young headlining the Isle of Wight Festival this year, some for, others against.

Some fans cannot wait for him to take to the stage, others – mostly the younger people – are saying “who he?”

For those who don’t know him for his music, here’s a little background on him that we didn’t know. We found it surprising.

Neil Young has taken his 1959 Lincoln Continental convertible and had it converted to run on new power sources, rather than 7+ litre petrol engine it used to use.

Young saw many small cars being converted to run on electric power, but wanted to do the same to a large car … and man is it big? Measuring in at 19.5 feet long and weighs 2.5 tons.

Here’s a video of Neil Young explaining it

If you want to see the car and a run down of the technology in the car, here’s a video over viewing it (you have to excuse the American sales conference style presentation)
