It came to light during last night’s Ventnor Town Council (VTC) meeting, during the agenda item to discuss finances, that the VTC finance officer, Mike Cox had recently resigned from his post.
Later on, at the beginning of councillor question time (which had been left off the published agenda but was added at the beginning of the meeting), Cllr Susan Scoccia stood up with sheets of A4 paper in her hand stating that she had a number of questions to raise.
A private matter
She started by saying that she would be raising matters that should be discussed in private but that she wanted to raise them in public.
Her first question was whether news that the current administration assistant and licensee for the Winter Gardens, had resigned from her post.
It was confirmed this was the case, but after a short discussion between the chair and the town clerk, Cllr Scoccia was told that her questions should be raised in the part of the meeting that was to be held in camera after councillor question time.
