BRADING:
Quay Lane will be closed from Friday 8 August 2014 until Friday 31 October 2014 between High Street and a point 735 metres to the East of the junction with High Street. The closure is necessary for water main replacement works by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water. There is no diversion route however access will be maintained in emergency situations. Update 12.20:
Marshcombe Shute will be closed from a point 45 metres to the East of New Road to point 250 metres to the East of New Road between approx. 11.30am and 3.30pm on Monday 15 September 2014 and if necessary between 9am and 3.30pm on Tuesday 16 September 2014.
The closure is required to install temporary safety barriers at Marscombe Shute Railway and River Yar bridges by Island Roads. During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic (in both directions) will be; A3055 Morton Common, Morton Road, Avenue Road, Fort Street, B3395 Culver Parade and Yaverland Road. The temporary safety barriers are larger than those that have been previously erected meaning that the carriageway width will be narrowed at this point. Once the temporary safety barriers have been installed a temporary one way restriction will be necessary due to the carriageway width still available. During the period when the one way restriction is in operation the alternative route for all traffic travelling in a Westbound towards Yarbridge Crossroads Brading direction will be; B3395 Yaverland Road and Yaverland Road, Fort Street, Avenue Road A3055 Morton Road and Morton Common. Permanent barrier works should hopefully be completed in the near future and the one- way restriction will then be removed. The 6ft 6in width restriction in Yaverland Road / Cuver Parade will be temporarily suspended whilst the temporay barriers are in position.

ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive will remain closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton. Following significant ground movement in the area in early February 2014, Undercliff Drive has been physically closed between Mirables (in the west) and a point 560 metres to the West of Seven Sisters Road (in the east) for safety reasons. There is now no access for vehicles or pedestrians. The Isle of Wight Council, working with partner agencies including Island Roads and with support from the army, led an operation in February to help residents of nine properties in Undercliff Drive (in an area known as ‘Woodlands’) remove possessions from their homes after they were advised to leave for safety reasons. A formal road and footpath closure will be in operation from Saturday 15 February for the foreseeable future. Island Roads’ work in the road has been suspended and the road will remain closed until the ground has stabilised and further monitoring can be carried out to determine its future.
