Ryde Castle Will Be Closed For At Least A Year

It’s nearly seven weeks since a devastating fire took hold of Ryde Castle whilst a wedding party celebrated inside.

Wight Media Services shot of inside of Ryde CastleReaders will remember that owners of the property, Greene King, announced shortly after the fire that they planned to restore the property as soon as is possible.

At least a year before hotel reopens
The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing and an update is expected next week, but in the meantime, a Greene King spokesperson told VB today, “The full extent of the damage to the Ryde Castle Hotel is still being investigated, but it is clear that it is extensive.

“We hope to fully reopen the hotel, but don’t expect we will be in a position to do so for at least another year. At this stage the details of the building and repair work required to restore the building has not yet been confirmed.

“All the team at the hotel have been kept fully up to date with the situation. Where appropriate they have been offered alternative work within the company or are finding alternative work themselves.”

We’ll let you know when we hear more.
