The money was raised through various activities at the club during the past year including raffles, quizzes and a ladies fundraising day.
Carl Bridgeman and Hazel Buck, the club’s 2014 captains, handed over a cheque for £1,356.90 to Earl Mountbatten Hospice staff, and were then given a tour of the Hospice’s John Cheverton Centre.
After the tour, Carl said:
“We were both really impressed with the facility. It looks and feels very warm and comfortable for the visitors and the Hospice should be very proud of it.
“Earl Mountbatten Hospice has certainly seen some remarkable changes since the last time I visited.”
Ryde Golf Club will continue to support the Hospice for at least another year as new captains Barry Englefield and Sara Weech, who is also chair of EHM trustees, have both decided to keep Earl Mountbatten as their chosen charity in 2015.
Carl said,
“The Hospice is a place that touches the lives of most people on the Island at some time, so we all hope that even more money can be raised in the coming year.”
Katie Radburn, the Hospice’s corporate and major donor fundraiser, thanked Ryde Golf Club members for their past and ongoing support.
“We really do rely on groups such as Ryde Golf Club to help us provide the very best care for people with life-shortening illnesses.
“We were delighted that Carl and Hazel noticed the improvements to services we have been able to offer over the years but this has only been made possible by the wonderful support we receive from groups, organisations and individuals across the Island.”
