Ryde rowers:

Ryde Rowers take on the Coalporters Regatta

Thanks to Steve for this update from Ryde Rowing Club. Ed

Exams, holidays and the IW Festival depleted the number of Ryde Crews that were able to compete at the Southampton Coalporters Rowing Club Regatta on Saturday (15th June) to just three.

Leading ladies
There was a very good performance from the Coastal Junior Ladies crew of Steph Kissick, Heidi Kissick, Michaela Martin and Alicia Stokes and Mickey Jenner coxing, racing for only the third time at this status, who won their heat and went on to finish second in the final behind the crew that is leading the Championship.

There was also a much improved performance from the Men’s Novice “A” crew of Callum Lockhart, Will Ford, Isaac Cornish and James Smith with Abbi Cornish coxing who finished second in their heat narrowly missing out on a place in the semi-final.

Pipped to the post by Lymington
But there was disappointment for the Men’s Coastal Junior Four of James Cleary, Andy Hicks, Ollie Gove, Adam Edwards with Abbi Cornish coxing once again who, in spite of a easy win in their semi-final were beaten into second place in the final by rivals Lymington, although they still lead the race for the championship.
