Sainsbury’s Petrol Station Break In: Police Seek Witnesses (Updated Photos)

Sainsbury's Petrol Station Break In: Police Seek WitnessesAs you might know, Sainsbury’s petrol station in Newport was closed by the police this morning.

We’ve heard from the police that officers were carrying out a forensic examination of the forecourt and shop, following a break in.

During the early hours of this morning, it’s alleged a theft occurred after entry was forced to the premises while it was closed and unmanned.

Detective Sergeant Will Burns of Isle of Wight CID said: “The exact amount and value of items taken from the store has yet to be confirmed.”

Anyone who was around that area is being asked to report any suspicious activity late on Sunday night (6 September) or during the early hours of Monday morning (7 September) by phoning 101 or anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Hope to reopen tomorrow
At the time of publishing this piece, the petrol station remains closed and we understand from Sainsbury’s that they hope for it it to be open again tomorrow (Tuesday).
