A Delegated Decision Report has been issued today in relation to the sale of former Greenmount Primary School in Ryde.
The site was “confirmed in July 2011 as surplus to educational requirements in the cabinet member delegated decision 22/11 Disposal of School Sites”.
The report reveals that from August last year, the property was advertised in the County Press seven times over a period of 22 weeks to ensure “a thorough marketing campaign”.
Sale conditional on approved planning permission
An offer for the entire site is currently being recommended for acceptance with the proposed purchase conditional on the granting of planning permission for residential use (with a minimum of three car parking spaces).
The report states that the contract is also conditional “upon the current consent for disposal from the Department for Education (DfE) remaining in place”.
Two bids presented by same vendor
It seems that there may be some issues in relation to parking spaces allowable on the site. With this in mind, the preferred bidder has submitted two offers for the site:
“¢ £400,000 conditional on planning permission being granted for conversion to residential use with at least three car parking spaces on site (“the minimum scheme”), or
“¢ £450,000 conditional on planning permission being granted for conversion to residential use with at least seven car parking spaces on site (“the maximum scheme”).
No local objections
The report also explains that “Details of the proposal have been shared with the cabinet member for the economy and the environment, the local member and town council, and no adverse response has been received”.
