The week after next, Salvation Army run Fellowship House will welcome its first residents.
Following years of struggle and with the cooperation of the Isle of Wight Council, the centre to help Island homeless men will finally open and get on with what it does best.
We understand that 14 members of staff have now been recruited, with George Mitchell as manager.
His experience of running a successful centre for the Salvation Army elsewhere makes him very well-placed to do the job.
Fellowship House will provide accommodation in 25 single rooms. There’ll be a ‘move-on’ flat, plus all the self-catering, common spaces and service areas you would expect for such a building.
Today (Thursday) sees an open day at the centre between 1pm to 7pm.
Members of the public are welcome to turn up and take a look at the centre and talk about the work of the Salvation Army.
Fellowship House is on the corner of Green Street and Station Road in Ryde (near the Police Station).
