A man has been charged in connection with a serious assault in Sandown.
Police were called at around 5pm on Sunday 5th November with reports that a man in his 40s had been punched, kicked and stamped on, in the High Street.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries, but these are not deemed life-threatening.
Officers attended and conducted a search before arresting a man nearby in Queens Road.
Man charged
Following enquiries, a 35-year-old man from Osborne Road in Shanklin, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court today (7th November).
Return to court next month
At the hearing, he was further remanded to appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 6th December.
