Anyone on the Isle of Wight who has children at school will be interested in these proposed dates for the 2013-14 school year.
We’ve embedded the proposed calendar below.
The dates have yet to be fully finalised, but have already been made available to all head teachers and teacher associations, who have given their comments after considering it.
Sixteen of the Island’s primary schools asked that the September 2013 term start slightly earlier, giving three days for pupil attendance in the first week, as opposed to the one in the original draft.
Spring break not dictated by Easter
If this were to occur, Spring term could begin on Monday, 6 January 2014, giving a full two weeks for the Christmas holiday.
The IWC have also followed guidance from the Local Government Association to establish a two-week spring break in early April, irrespective of the incidence of the Easter bank holiday.
Once the Delegated decision has been made (which won’t be before 19 July, 2012), the calendar will then be sent to all schools.
