Road access between upper and lower Ventnor could be closed this afternoon, after a damaged sewer was reported on Newport Road.
Island Roads say they’d been notified by Southern Water that they would need to close Newport Road in Ventnor (near the Graben) due to a damaged sewer.
With Leeson Road closed due to the Bonchurch landslide, access for Ventnor will only be via Whitwell.
Road will be closed
At the landslide media briefing this afternoon Natasha Dix, the Service Director for Waste, Planning and the Environment, confirmed that Newport Road would be closed this afternoon.
However, at time of publishing it was still open.
This diversion could add significant time to journeys from Ventnor to Upper Ventnor, Wroxall and Shanklin.
