Healthwatch Isle of Wight, the independent champion for health and social care is reaching out to the Island community to hear from people directly about their experiences of accessing primary care.
They would particularly like to hear about people’s recent experiences after June this year. A public survey has been launched to find out people’s experiences of contacting their GP surgery and accessing support.
Survey will feed into report
The survey results will be published in a report early next year which will be shared with key services on the Island, including the Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning group, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System and GP practices.
The report will also be published and will be available to view on the Healthwatch Isle of Wight Website.
Celebrate good practice, as well as highlighting any gaps
Healthwatch Isle of Wight manager, Joanna Smith, said the report would celebrate good practice as well as highlight any gaps in services.
She said,
“GP services are often the first point of contact for anyone with a physical or mental health problem and are the gateway to many other health services and specialities.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way that people access primary care and we would like people to share their recent experiences, both positive and negative. By completing the survey, you will help us to build a picture of local services to help GP practices and commissioners identify what is working well for people and what needs to change.”
