Simon Hayes visited the Isle of Wight yesterday (Tuesday) in his capacity as the newly elected Police & Crime Commissioner.
When all the candidates visited the hustings at the Sandown Broadway Centre prior to the election, I made a point of talking to him and introduced myself as one of the nine Independent Councillors.
After his victory I spoke to him again and he told me of his intention to visit the Island and he duly arrived this Tuesday, 27th.
Put forward our concerns
We had an hour long meeting with him and each of us put forward our concerns, thoughts and ideas as to how we would like to see improvements for the future.
We all found him very easy to get on with, intelligent and a good listener and hope that this interaction and consultation will continue to the benefit of the Island generally. It was really heartening to see that already he is committed to the job hence his visit here.
