Simple Minds to Play Isle of Wight Festival

Simple Minds to Play Isle of Wight FestivalLatest news in from the Isle of Wight Festival HQ is that they’ve managed to secure even more great acts for this years shenanigans at Seaclose Park in Newport over the weekend of 12-13-14 June at the Isle of Wight Festival.

It really does seem to be the year for bands from our youth heading down to the sunny Isle of Wight’s for the festival season.

At the top of the list for newly confirmed acts are Simple Minds.

Formed in the late 1970s, Simple Minds shot to fame instantly in the UK and Europe, but it only took their track, “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” being used in brat pack film, The Breakfast Club for them to become big names in the US.

They’ve got six UK number one albums under their belts and have been working on their 15th studio album ‘Graffiti Soul’, which is due to be released in May.

Although we’ve never seen them play live, they have a reputation for putting on truly epic live performances, so the crowds in Newport should be pretty chuffed this June.

The band seem pretty chuffed too, as Jim Kerr gushed

“We are very excited about playing the Isle of Wight. This is the first time Simple Minds have played the festival, so as you can imagine, we’re really looking forward to it. We’ll be performing songs from our new ‘Graffiti Soul’ album and some classics gems.”

They’ve been around for 30 odd years, so as you can imagine there’s plenty of merchandise available from the official Simple Minds Web site
