Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue have been called to Sandown Hotel, Culver Parade, after reports of smoke coming from the lift shaft.
They were called at 9.39am and attended at 9.45am
The hotel has been evacuated and all persons are accounted for.
Two vehicles are in attendance, from Ryde and Sandown and turntable ladders are on their way from Newport.
