Isle of Wight Council’s waste partners Amey have temporarily suspended some resident bin/sack collections in Newport, Gunville and Carisbrooke today (Friday 12th August) as temperatures have hit 30C and over.
This action is for the safety of its collection crews, due to the heatwave. An amber warning of extreme heat is in place across the Isle of Wight and southern regions.
The suspension means some waste or recycling may not be collected today that would usually take place on Friday.
