Many residents in Ventnor and Wroxall who rely on public transport have been very badly affected by the suspension of the Route 3 into Upper Ventnor, following the closure of Leeson Road (due to Sunday’s landslide) and Newport Road (due to a collapsed sewer).
An hourly shuttle bus has been running between Sandford Garage and Ventnor, via Godshill and Whitwell, but today (Thursday) Southern Vectis have announced the Route 3 will now run to Upper Ventnor, before heading back through Wroxall and onto Shanklin etc.
They explain,
“Route 3 buses will now serve Island Free School in Upper Ventnor, before turning into Downlands Crescent, and waiting time at Island Free School.
“Buses will then head back through Wroxall, and on to Shanklin to continue normal route.”
For those travelling to Ryde, there is some disruption there too, although some apologies are added this time,
“Park Road in Ryde has been closed. Buses will divert via Dover Street and Melville Street.
“During this closure, Ryde Library will not be served. Apologies if affected.”
You can follow service updates on the Southern Vectis website.
