Southern Vectis have announced yet more changes to their bus services from Sunday 20th April. This is expected to be the last major revision until September.
Service 3, in common with all other routes currently operating all-night buses, will lose its all-night service except on Fridays and Saturdays when it will retain an hourly service until about 5 o’clock in the morning.
There are some other slight retimings but passengers should be aware that the last journey from Newport to Ventnor will leave Newport 5 minutes earlier than at present at 2335, continuing to Shanklin and Ryde 13 minutes earlier at 2400.
As previously announced, service 6 will no longer run to St.Lawrence but buses in both directions between Ventnor and Newport will run via Ventnor Botanic Gardens.
This means that there will no longer be any Sunday bus service at all between the Botanic Gardens and St.Lawrence until Wightbus start running their service 16 on 27th July but this will be withdrawn again after 31st August.
If you would like to see the return of a Sunday service throughout the summer you should contact your local county councillor, Susan Scoccia (Ventnor West) or Jonathan Fitzgerald-Bond (Ventnor East). Buses on this service are also retimed.
Some good news is that the Island Coaster service will continue running throughout the summer until 2nd November.
This leaves Albert Street at 1045 and 1115 each day and runs to Blackgang Chine, then along the Military Road to Freshwater Bay and Alum Bay. Buses return from Alum Bay at 1630 and 1700.
